Jenny Telfer-Crum, Registered Physiotherapist
Jenny (she/her) is a Registered Physiotherapist in Ontario, Canada. She attended the University of Guelph for her undergraduate Bachelor Degree in Human Kinetics and McMaster University for her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy.
Jenny went into her Masters with the goal of practicing ‘Pelvic Health Physiotherapy’, as it combined her interest in women’s health and fitness, social justice, relationships and sexuality with ‘traditional’ aspects of orthopedic physiotherapy and pain management.
Jenny completed her entry-level Pelvic Health courses before she had finished her Physiotherapy residency, and continued her post-graduate training focusing on urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pessary fitting and care, and high intensity exercise in throughout the lifespan. She also explored concepts around sexual pain, pre and post gender affirmation surgerical care, and trauma-informed care. A full list of her education and training can be viewed below.
In 2018 Jenny started working as a teaching assistant for Pelvic Health Solutions for their Level 1 and Level 2 in-person pelvic assessment and skills labs in Vaughan, Ontario, and now serves as a primary lab assistant for that location over 12 times a year.
Also in 2018 Jenny was contacted by Antony Lo to be a teaching assistant on his Female Athlete Level 1 and later Level 2 courses across North America. In 2020 Jenny started working closely with Antony to establish The Female Athlete Membership, where clinicians watch a real 1-1 client consultantion, answer and ask questions to Antony and the client. Jenny has now TA’d for Antony over 15 times across Canada, the USA and online.
In 2022 Jenny started developing her own research-based continuing education courses with her collegues. External Approaches to Pelvic Health is taught with Certified Athletic Therapist Ashley Burr and is geared towards non-internal therapists who are early on in their pelvic health offerings. With fellow Physiotherapist and pessary fitter Cara McDougall from the Toronto Pessary Clinic, The Pessary Course: Clinical Integration and Management of POP/SUI) came to life and is now one of the premier pessary course offerings in Canada and the US. Clinical Update: SUI and POP Research and Management Review came from all the research exploration that went into these courses, with too much to fit in to the other 2-day formats but so much good information to share!
Jenny’s clinical goal is to work collaboratively with people experiencing pelvic health concerns so that they can understand their bodies, stop worrying and confidently progress towards their fitness or lifestyle goals. She strives to provide compassionate, inclusive, and trauma-informed Physiotherapy care that revolves around their goals and fits into their lifestyle. Through these education and mentorship offerings, she hope she can help you do the same by building off the skills, knowledge and perspectives that you already bring to the table.
Outside of work, Jenny has always pursued various forms of exercise (jogging, bootcamps, spin classes, strength training/power lifting, CrossFit, Orange Theory, yoga etc). Apart from being ‘a completely average gym goer’, she also enjoys singing, dancing, and spending time outdoors with her husband, Sho, and their pets – Mikko the dog, and Cadence the cat.
